I get many compliments about my art and often I am told I am very talented. I take the compliments, but I chuckle inside. Why? Well, if they saw my art a few years ago they wouldn’t say that: I am sure I would get a polite “That’s nice.”
It took me time, practice, repetition, and many mistakes to get to where I am now. However, I am still lacking when it comes to shading and perspective. I can draw animals, but humans are very difficult for me, and hands are the worst part of drawing human anatomy. I am the guy who would draw the back of a person and hide their hands in an object or a pocket. I will eventually work it out if I take the time to practice. I am also weak when it comes to showing stories in my art. You can argue that my style doesn’t lend itself to making a story, but I would like to try.
So, I truly believe that those who see art and wish they had the talent to do it can become good artists themselves. All it takes is time and some patience and when they get there, they will be called talented. 😊
